Terms of Use
1. Who we are
Barplus is a digital bar review platform. Barplus is a trade name of VHC Website Hosting Services ("VHC", "we", "us"), whose place of business is in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines.
VHC operates the platform and is the seller of record for every purchase made on it. Materials sold on Barplus are written by lawyers, law professors and other contributors based in various parts of the Philippines. The author of each material is named on the material itself and on its product page.
By using this site or buying anything on it, you agree to these Terms.
2. What we sell
Barplus sells digital study materials for the Philippine Bar Examinations — case briefs, reviewers and similar documents — delivered as files you download.
Materials are organised into collections. A collection covers eight Bar subjects: Political Law, Labor Law, Civil Law, Taxation Law, Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law, and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises. You may buy a single subject, all eight subjects in a collection, or Full Access.
3. Authorship and responsibility for content
Every material names its author.
Where a material names an author other than Barplus, that author is responsible for the content of that material, including its accuracy and currency, and warrants to us that the material is their own original work and does not infringe the rights of any other person. Where no author other than Barplus is named, Barplus is responsible for that material.
If you believe any material infringes your rights or contains a material error, write to hello@barplus.ph and we will review it.
4. Materials are study aids, not legal advice
Our materials are study aids for Bar examinees. They are not legal advice and must not be relied on as a statement of the law for any actual matter.
The law changes. Each material states the date to which it is current. Jurisprudence, rules and statutes issued after that date may not be reflected.
We do not promise that studying our materials will cause you to pass the Bar Examinations or achieve any particular result.
5. Prices and payment
All prices shown on the site are in Philippine pesos and are the total you pay, inclusive of 12% VAT. No processing fee or other charge is added at checkout. Your receipt shows the VAT component.
Payment is processed by our payment provider. VHC is the seller of record and issues the invoice.
Prices may change at any time. The price shown when you pay is the price that applies to that purchase.
6. Your licence to use what you buy
When you buy a material you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download it and use it for your own study.
You may not share, distribute, upload, resell, sublicense or publicly post any material, in whole or in part, whether free or for payment. You may not remove or alter any watermark, author attribution or copyright notice.
Copyright in each material remains with its author. Buying a material does not transfer copyright.
7. Watermarking and download records
Every file you download is watermarked with identifying information linked to your purchase, and we keep a record of each download.
We do this so that a leaked copy can be traced to the purchase it came from. By buying, you consent to this.
8. Access to what you buy
8.1 Your library
Purchases are tied to the email address you use at checkout. You access them through a link we email you, which opens your library. You do not need a password or an account.
8.2 How long access lasts
A material you buy stays in your library and remains available for download for as long as Barplus operates, except where we are legally required to remove it.
8.3 Updates
Where we issue an updated version of a material you have bought, you receive the updated version at no further charge until the 2027 Bar Examinations.
8.4 Materials not yet released
Some materials are listed as "coming soon" with an indicative date. Those dates are estimates, not commitments.
Where you buy a whole collection, you receive each of its eight subjects as it is released. Where you buy Full Access, you receive everything released on or before the end date stated on the Full Access page.
If a material listed as coming soon is never released, you are not entitled to a refund of a collection or Full Access purchase on that ground.
9. Refunds
Digital materials are delivered immediately and cannot be returned.
We refund duplicate charges — where you were charged more than once for the same material. Write to hello@barplus.ph.
We do not otherwise give refunds, including where you change your mind, where you bought the wrong subject, or where you do not pass the Bar Examinations.
This does not affect any right you have under the Consumer Act of the Philippines or other applicable law.
10. Things you must not do
You must not:
- share your library link with anyone else;
- use automated means to download, copy or scrape materials or any part of the site;
- attempt to gain access to any material you have not bought;
- interfere with the operation or security of the site.
We may suspend access where we reasonably believe any of these has occurred.
11. Availability
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the site for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
12. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to that, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the material concerned.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including examination results, lost opportunity or lost income.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. The version in force is the one published on this page, with its effective date. Changes do not affect purchases already made.
14. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any dispute arising from them shall be brought exclusively before the proper courts of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, to the exclusion of all other venues.
